No. 2 Foreign Language School Opens
Guangzhou No. 2 Foreign Language School, based on the Taihe campus of Peiying Middle School, opened on September 2, becoming the first public foreign language school in Baiyun District. For the fall semester, the new school will have a total of 12 classes for junior and senior middle school students, and the intake will expand in the years ahead.
The school is a full-time complete public middle school, consisting of three sections – the junior middle school, senior middle school, and international section. It will have a total of 48 classes, including six senior middle school classes for the fall semester. The number of senior middle school classes for the fall semester will be increased to 30 in 2015. The number of junior middle school classes, set at six for this fall semester, will be raised to 18 in 2015.
The school's main medium of instruction is English, with some courses offered in other languages. In addition to English and French courses, German, Spanish and Korean courses will be offered this semester. The school features small-sized classes, with no more than 35 students in class. The school enjoys the full backing of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The school and the university are expected to sign a number of agreements on teaching training, intellectual support and a joint student development program.
